Description
From July
7th to January 10th the Cartier Foundation for Contemporary Art is
hosting "Born in the Streets - Graffiti", an exhibition which explores
the birth of graffiti in New York City in the early 1970s and how it
quickly became a world wide phenomenon.
The
exhibition extends from the interior of the museum to the outdoor walls
and gardens and will include photographs, documentary videos
and original large-scale wall paintings created for the exhibition by
three of the movement’s most significant pioneers "P.H.A.S.E. 2, Part 1
and Seenby".
What better
way to get teenagers into a museum than an art exhibition devoted
to Graffiti and Street Art? I took my two children
ages ten
and fourteen and both of them really enjoyed it.
There
were also a number of younger children having a good
time playing hide and seek in the very relaxed museum garden.
There is a
tiny outdoor cafe completely covered in graffiti
that sells inexpensive coffee, drinks and snacks.
I would
definitely recommend this exhibition as a fun outing for the whole
family.
