She was one of the most influential and accomplished Abstract Expressionist painters, but received comparably little recognition during her life, and to many she remains an enigma.The Joan Mitchell exhibition of musée des Impressionnismes Giverny is organized with the partnership of die Kunsthalle Emden and il Palazzo Magnani Reggio Emilia. Over thirty monumental canvases from France and the United States are displayed. This exhibition gives a vibrant and complete overview of Joan Mitchell's art from 1950 to 1992. I went to see the exhibition last week and highly recommend it. Giverny is a beautiful town and you can easily tie a trip to this exhibition in with a visit to Monet's Gardens which are stiil beautiful to see in October.
